Encouragement for the beginning of the week . . .

Lord of Heaven . . . Grant us always to know that to walk with Jesus makes other interests a shadow and a dream.  Keep us from intermittent attention to eternal things . . .”

“King of Glory . . . Teach us to place our happiness in thee, the blessed God, never seeking life among the dead things of the earth, or asking for that which satisfies the deluded; but may we prize the light of thy smile . . .”

These are from The Valley of Vision, two different prayers.  I highly recommend this prayer book!

  1. This looks lovely – I’ve never read this book, but I think I’d like it. One book that has influenced me greatly is The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence, he believed that one could abide with the Lord as easily in the kitchen as in the prayer closet. Good news for those of us who do not live in a monastery!
